Audio Device Configuration   Help Guide
Playback and Recording Devices
First, you must make sure that your Windows Sound Mapper is configured with the correct audio Playback and Recording devices. To confirm that your sound devices are being properly used, follow the below instructions.
  1. Open the Control Panel window by selecting it from the Start menu.
  2. Click on Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices in this window, and then click on Sounds and Audio Devices to display the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties dialog.

  3. In the Sound playback section of the Audio panel, make sure that you have the correct audio device selected as your Default device. In most cases this will just be the primary sound card that you have installed in your system.
  4. In the Sound recording section of the same window, make sure that you have the correct audio device selected as your Default device.

  5. Select your webcam from the drop-down list if you are using the microphone built into your webcam. If you have a microphone connected to your primary sound card, then make sure that the sound card is selected.

Audio Mixer
Next, you will need to make sure that your audio mixer settings are correct. If you are using your webcam’s built-in microphone then you can SKIP THIS SECTION, as the 'Capture' recording control will already be selected by default.

  1. Pull up the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties dialog that you opened in the previous section.
  2. Click on the Advanced button in the Volume panel to display the Master Volume window.

  3. Open the Options drop-down menu and select Properties. Next to Mixer Device at the top of the window, make sure that the audio device you chose for recording (in the previous section) is selected in the drop-down list.
  4. Select the Recording option under “Adjust volume for”. Make sure there is a check in the box next to Microphone and click OK to display the Recording Control window.

  5. Make sure that the Microphone is selected by checking the Select box below the Volume slider.

Microphone Boost and Recording Volume
Now that the correct microphone is set up for recording your voice, you can adjust the volume. We recommend enabling the Microphone Boost setting. This setting increases the recording volume of your microphone by about 20 decibels. After enabling the Microphone Boost, if the capture volume is too loud and is distorting your voice, you should disable it.

  1. Pull up the Recording Control window that you opened in the previous section.
  2. Open the Options drop-down menu and select Advanced Controls. Click the Advanced button in the Microphone section.

  3. Make sure there is a check in the box next to Microphone Boost.

Playback Volume
You can adjust your audio playback volume in the Volume Control window. This is helpful when the audio that your computer is recording plays back through your speakers too loudly, interfering with audio from another person on iSpQ.

  1. Pull up the Recording Control window that you opened in the previous section.
  2. Open the Options drop-down menu and select Properties. Select the Playback option under “Adjust volume for”.
  3. Make sure there is a check in the box next to Master Volume and Wave and click OK to display the Volume Control window.
  4. Adjust the playback level for Master Volume and Wave to your liking by dragging the Volume slider. Ensure that neither Master Volume or Wave are muted.
