Privacy and Security
Help Guide
iSpQ VideoChat's powerful and customizable privacy settings put you in control of your online experience. Our thriving community also has a set of System Policies that are enforced by both NanoCom staff and a helpful group of volunteers, the iSpQ Community Monitors. This combination of privacy/security settings and Community Monitors makes iSpQ VideoChat a safe and enjoyable online destination.
CamTrust
New in iSpQ VideoChat 8, CamTrust screens all incoming Quick Messages and warns you if the photo might contain objectionable material.
Screening Process
In most cases, CamTrust succeeds in flagging photos from violators of iSpQ System Policy. When someone sends you a Quick Message, CamTrust examines available information about the sender. Is their profile photo rejected? Are they blocked by many others? If so, CamTrust hides the photo, indicating its reason(s) for doing so. At this point, you can choose to View the Photo. You can also click Settings to adjust CamTrust behavior.
Note: CamTrust never screens messages from your Pals, so to “white-list” someone, add them to your Pal List.
Configure CamTrust settings
In the Options window ( Edit > Options in the main menu), open the Privacy panel (on the left). From here, CamTrust can be configured to screen incoming messages from people of different home rooms or from people who are not your Pals. A history of all CamTrust screenings is also available from this panel (click the CamTrust History button).
Privacy Settings

There are many ways to make your iSpQ VideoChat experience more private. You can hide yourself from different parts of the community and hide all or part of your profile. Note: You will appear 'Offline' to people you are hiding from. Most of these settings can be accessed from the Privacy Options screen (pictured at the right). Below are some privacy choices:
Hide from everyone in the Community and all of your Pals

In the main window, choose Edit > Online Mode in the menu and select Hidden or click the down arrow on the main window (see the circled area at the right). Note: This feature does not hide you in Text Chat.
Hide from everyone in the Community only
In the Options window ( Edit > Options in the main menu), open the Privacy panel (on the left). Check the box next to Hide me in the public directories. This hides you in all public Room user lists, regardless of your current Online Mode.
Hide from a specific Pal
In the main window, right-click on a Pal's name and select Hide from Pal in the popup menu. Note: the person you are hiding from can still see you in a public Room's user list and in Text Chat.
Hide your Ratings points
In the Profile Editor ( Edit > Profile in the main menu), check the box next to Display Rating Points. Your overall and daily rating are no longer visible when someone views your profile.
Hide your entire Profile
In the Profile Editor ( Edit > Profile in the main menu), clear the checkbox next to Enable my Profile. When someone tries to view your profile, they will see “Profile Disabled”.
Hide a specific Interest
In the Profile Editor ( Edit > Profile in the main menu), enter a dash “-” before the specific interest. An example would be “-soccer”. Hidden interests are not visible in your profile; however, if someone else enters “-soccer”, you will show up when they browse the list of people also interested in soccer. Read more about Interests.
Secure Communications
Lock-down incoming communications with some of iSpQ VideoChat's advanced security features. There are several global settings that prevent people - who are not on your Pal List - from contacting you. You can also “block” a specific user.
Ignore all Messages from non-Pals
In the Options window ( Edit > Options in the main menu), open the Privacy panel (on the left). Check the box next to Only accept Quick Messages from users on my Pal List.
Ignore all VideoChat invitations from non-Pals
In the Options window ( Edit > Options in the main menu), open the Privacy panel (on the left). Check the box next to Only accept videochat invitations from users on my Pal List.
Disable the archiving of your outgoing Messages
In the Options window ( Edit > Options in the main menu), clear the checkbox next to Save my sent Quick Messages in my Outbox.
Block a specific user from contacting you
“Blocking” is an effective way to prevent a user from contacting you. Although you remain visible to them throughout the community, any Quick Message sent to you will be refused; you will never know they even tried to contact you. Blocking should only be used as a last resort, when the privacy settings discussed above are not effective enough. Note: You can only block a user who has previously sent you a Quick Message.
Camera Privacy
Have you ever wanted to send someone a Quick Message that did not include your photo? iSpQ VideoChat gives you full control over your webcam.
Turn off 'Send Image' in Quick Messages
In the Message window, clear the checkbox next to Send Image. When the recipient views your message, they will see “No Photo” in the picture box.
Disable video by selecting 'None' in Video Sources list
In the main window, click the arrow next to the webcam icon (at the bottom-left). Select None in the popup menu. All video from your webcam is now disabled, so if you are currently in a Video Chat, the participants will no longer be able to see you. Re-enable your video by clicking the same arrow on the main window and selecting your webcam from the list.
